Skilled Worker Class
On November 28, 2008, CIC announced the new details for
federal skilled worker applications received on or after February
27, 2008 to be assessed for eligibility according to its new set
of instructions.
The minister still relies on the point system which was
previously in place and requires a minimum of 67 points. The
factors remain the same, age (max of 10 points), education(max of
25 points), experience (max of 21 points), languages, (English
and French only)(max of 24 points), adaptability (max of 10
points) and arranged employment (max of 10 points). The maximum
number of points remains 100.
According to the new instructions an applicant is eligible
if:
- The applicant has an arranged employment, OR
- The applicant is a foreign national who has been living legally in Canada for one year as a temporary foreign worker or an international student, OR
- The applicant has at least one year of experience in or more of the following occupations:

- 3111: Specialist Physicians
- 3112: General Practitioners and Family Physicians

- 3143: Occupational Therapists

This application is not for applicants who are interested in immigrating to Quebec.
