Citizenship
Canadian citizenship may be granted to an individual who has lived in Canada as a permanent resident of Canada for at least three years of the four years before applying. An individual between the ages of 18 and 59, who meets this requirement, will be scheduled to take a citizenship test. Canadian citizenship will be granted to candidates who meet all the requirements prescribed by law during the citizenship ceremony. As a Canadian citizen you will have new responsibilities and rights, including the right to obtain a passport and vote in elections.
