Business Applicant
There are three categories of business applicants:
- Investors
- Entrepreneurs
- Self employed persons
INVESTORS
In order to qualify as an investor, an applicant must show the following:
- The applicant must have legally obtained a net worth of CDN $800,000;
- The applicant must be able to make an investment of CDN $400,000. The applicant is given the opportunity to finance the investment
- The applicant must have:
- managed a qualifying business and controlled a percentage of equity of the qualifying business for at least two years or
- managed at least five full time job equivalents per year in a business for at least two years
- The percentage of equity multiplied by the number of full time job equivalents is equal to or greater than two full-time job equivalents per year;
- The percentage of equity multiplied by the total annual sales is equal to or greater than CDN $500,000;
- The percentage of equity multiplied by the net income in the year is equal to or greater than CDN $50,000; and
- The percentage of equity multiplied by the net assets at the end of the year is equal to or greater than CDN $125,000.
In order to qualify as an entrepreneur, the applicant must show the following:
- The applicant must show a net worth of CDN $300,000.00
- the applicant must show business experience.
- provide a written statement that they intend to and will be able to meet conditions as set out by the law.
In order to qualify as a self employed person, the applicant must demonstrate past experience, as well as the intention and ability to be self employed in Canada in the following areas:
- Cultural activities
- Athletics
- The purchase and management of a farm
